Joomla began in 2005 by the non-profit organization Miro
International Pvt Ltd under the name Mambo. After it was discovered
that the organization was not following open source values, the
development team split off and quickly grew a huge following. The
name, Joomla, came about a few months later, derived from the Arabic,
meaning “all together.” In October 2009, Joomla came to be
recognized as the number one open source CRM in the world.
